Tissue Culture Lab
The Tissue Culture Laboratory is dedicated to sterile cell culture work and houses two Class II microbiological safety cabinets, CO₂ incubators, and an inverted, upright, brightfield, phase-contrast, and fluorescence ECHO microscope. The lab also includes a Cellcyte X live-cell imaging system designed for continuous, non-invasive monitoring of cell cultures within standard incubator environments. The system enables real-time observation of cell morphology, confluence, and growth dynamics without removing samples from controlled culture conditions. It supports quantitative analysis for long-term experiments and is suitable for both research and translational cell-based workflows.
This is located in a general purpose biological laboratory (Containment Level 1) equipped with ultra-low temperature freezers, standard fridges and freezers, and a liquid nitrogen cell bank for long-term sample storage. Additional infrastructure includes an ice machine, an autoclave for sterilisation, two laminar flow cabinets, and safety cupboards for chemical storage.
